The Designer

The spirit of being unique her love for fashion is what made Namita Seksaria to start explore her business opportunity in this industry. She studied fashion at a renowned fashion school in her Home Town, Mumbai, India. Thereafter, she spent her life as an Assistant  to few famous Celebrity Fashion Stylists and as a Head Designer for the brand “MasalaWorks”. Later, Namita moved to USA and continued her advanced studies in fashion. She graduated from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, in Los Angeles, California, in 2010. After working for couple of years in the Fashion Industry in Los Angeles starting her own business was a natural calling. This realization of the opportunity at hand, made her take the big step forward to start a Fashion and Lifestyle Brand “Maati”. Namita is a dreamer, with an unbeatable sense of aesthetics which brings magic on board. She excels in designing and her skill in creating breathtaking prints gives a unique cutting edge to the brand.

The Brand

Maati was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 2013 as our attempt to bring the roots of Indian culture and ethnicity on the global platform. The Brand name “MAATI”  means “Soil” in Hindi, and accordingly signifies Creation and Growth. This naturally represents the essence of the brand.  Maati is a tribute to quintessential Indian sensibilities, blended perfectly with contemporary interpretations in design, material and craftsmanship. Every product is carefully handcrafted with the highest of quality standards. Expect to see vintage India in the most unique and contemporary form like never before in the form of rich colors, prints and embroidery using only premium and luxury raw materials in the way of Silks, Cottons, Handlooms and Vegan Leather.

The Products

Maati currently focusses on Home Décor and Fashion Accessories. Home Décor includes Cushion Covers, Trivets, Coasters, Placemats, Lap Desks, Digital Paintings and Wall Art whereas The Fashion Accessory line  includes Scarves, Clutches, Tote Bags, Headbands, iPad and Sleeves.  The blend of digital prints and colorful ethnic Indian embroidery all created and designed in house for all these products individually created provides for a large choice and selection.


The first Trunk Show happened in the heart of Fashion District, Downtown Los Angeles, California on 23rd of November 2013 marking it as the birth of Maati. Within a month it launched its website Within Six months of a successful launch and selling via their own Maati is able to sell via other websites such as Etsy, Vault, Bluefly etc. In the US, the brand has been given a good visibility via Pop Up Shops and Trade Shows. Maati focuses to attract high end American Retail Chain Stores and Specialty Boutique Stores.

Private Label Business

Besides building Maati as an exclusive Brand of quality and unique designs the company is looking into the private label business for other brands who want to outsource their print design and production to Maati for their specialized products. Maati has also ventured into the market of Corporate Gifts and Wedding Gifts where they customize the products to the client’s unique design and production requirements.


Maati wants to establish itself as a Premium Lifestyle Fashion Brand globally with its presence in selected Premium Boutique Stores, High-End Retail Chain Stores and other similar Retail Outlets across the globe.

Eventually Maati aspires to open its stand alone stores across the globe.


Our Story
